Graduate Regulatory Compliance Engineer

Overview of Responsibilities

The Technical Plant Maintenance Group (TPMG) has an opportunity for a Graduate Engineer to join its engineering team, specialising in regulatory compliance and safety under PSSR, LOLER, and PUWER. TPMG provides specialist technical maintenance services across UKAEA programmes and projects, including delivery of planned preventative maintenance, responsive corrective actions to minimise plant downtime, and expert guidance to ensure technical plant is operated and maintained in full compliance with regulatory requirements. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop detailed knowledge of LOLER, PSSR 2000, PUWER and associated legislation (including SOMSR) through formal training, self-study, and working alongside Senior Authorised Persons for Lifting and Pressure.
  • Become proficient in using UKAEA’s CMMS to manage statutory inspection schedules, maintenance records, and understand their legal significance.
  • Support the development of internal procedures, guidance notes, and standard documentation to underpin regulatory compliance.
  • Learn to advise and support Asset Managers in meeting their statutory duties, including asset management activities related to LOLER, PSSR, and PUWER compliance.
  • Gain experience managing small public-sector contracts for third-party inspection and maintenance services.
  • Undertake operational, site-based activities alongside SAP-L and SAP-P, including supporting the design, testing, commissioning, inspection, and safe operation of pressure and lifting equipment, reviewing lift plans, coordinating inspections, and supporting PUWER compliance across UKAEA sites and projects.
