About the Job

As an Electrical Commissioning Engineer, you will lead the installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems used in RACE remote handling projects. Working as part of a skilled engineering team, you will play a hands-on role in delivering complex electrical equipment, ensuring it is installed safely, operates effectively and meets required standards. This role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of cutting-edge projects and may include travel to external sites, including locations outside the UK.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Testing and commissioning electrical systems to ensure they meet operational, safety and site requirements.
  • Installing electrical hardware, control panels, cubicles, harnesses and cabling for remote handling applications.
  • Lead the electrical commissioning activities across the RACE project portfolio.

  • Preparing and reviewing commissioning procedures, method statements and safety documentation.
  • Support manufacturing and assembly for electrical hardware and cabling systems.
  • Carrying out inspections and quality assurance activities during equipment build and commissioning.
  • Contributing to the development of engineering standards and best working practices.
  • Take responsibility for commissioning activities, ensuring appropriate controls and documentation in place.

  • Supervising technicians undertaking electrical installation, testing and commissioning tasks.

     

What You’ll Bring

  • A formal Electrical, Electronic or Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, ONC, HNC, BSc, BEng or equivalent)
  • Experience delivering complex electrical systems in a practical engineering environment.
  • Experience testing and commissioning electrical systems
  • The ability to interpret electrical schematics and assembly drawings
  • Experience building, wiring and modifying electrical panels, harnesses and large electrical cabinets or cubicles
  • Experience working within a safety-critical or highly regulated engineering environment.

UKAEA is an onsite organisation and this role requires onsite presence 5 days a week. We actively support flexible working arrangements where this is compatible with the role.
