About the job 

As Electrical CAD Team Leader, you will lead a team of CAD drafters and designers, overseeing the production of accurate, detailed electrical drawings and plans for our projects. You will combine strong technical expertise with effective leadership to ensure high-quality CAD work and successful project delivery.

You’ll also bring strong communication and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects and deliver high-quality work.

What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Lead and develop the electrical CAD team, providing guidance, mentoring, training and setting clear goals and performance expectations.
  • Plan and coordinate CAD resources and workloads, prioritising tasks and ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the required standards.
  • Oversee the production and review of electrical CAD drawings and plans, ensuring accuracy, quality and compliance with RACE, UKAEA, British and international standards.
  • Work closely with engineers, project managers and stakeholders to understand project requirements, resolve technical challenges and ensure CAD designs meet project specifications.
  • Drive continuous improvement in CAD practices, maintaining standards and quality controls, resolving issues and staying up to date with CAD software, technology and industry best practices.

What You’ll Bring

Essential

  • Engineering or technology degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in electrical CAD design and drafting.
  • Experience of managing small teams of engineers.
  • Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., SOLIDWORKS Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical)

Desirable

  • Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership.
  • Experience of working in a safety dominated working environment.

UKAEA is an onsite organisation, and this role requires regular onsite presence (usually between 3-5 days in any given week) in line with business needs. We actively support flexible working arrangements where this is compatible with the role.

  • A salary of £57,117 (inclusive of a £5,800 specialist allowance)
  • Up to 7% corporate performance bonus
  • Final salary defined benefits pension scheme with an equivalent of 21.5% employer pension contribution  
  • 25 days annual leave plus 2.5 privilege days; 8 Bank Holidays
  • 3 days of site closure over Christmas break
