Senior Electrical Services Engineer
Overview of Responsibilities
The salary for this role is £56,596 (inclusive of a Specialist Allowance). Onsite working is expected for 4 days each week, however, we actively support requests for flexible working.
This role is based at the following site: Rotherham, South Yorkshire
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data.
The Role
As Senior Electrical Services Engineer, you will lead technical work on projects of moderate scale, taking ownership of major HV/LV equipment tasks, complex installations, modifications and technical studies.
You will support the development and operation of a cutting-edge facility that tests the materials and technologies needed for future fusion plants, including CHIMERA, the only rig in the world able to replicate the extreme conditions inside large fusion devices. In this role, you will oversee the delivery, operation and improvement of the FTF Yorkshire site’s power-supply infrastructure and low-voltage control systems, ensuring full compliance with current legislation.
Working closely with a project manager, you will help maintain quality, manage risks, and keep delivery aligned with budgets and timelines, while communicating clearly with internal and external stakeholders. If you have experience issuing electrical isolations on low-voltage and high-voltage systems, including racking out air circuit breakers, this could be the next step in your career.
Key Accountabilities:
As a Senior Electrical Services Engineer at FTF Yorkshire, you will play a key role in the design, build, commissioning, and testing of industrial, fusion, and commercial electrical systems at LV and MV levels, including UPS, generators, and automatic change-over systems.

Lead and take ownership of assigned electrical projects, managing requirements capture, design, specification, procurement, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems.

Ensure timely delivery of projects within specification, budget, and quality standards, working closely with a project manager.

Act as a technical expert, providing guidance on fault finding, enhancements, problem-solving, and assurance through calculation and analysis of electrical systems.

Coordinate and manage supplier and contractor input, reviewing documentation and controlling costs within Group budgets.

Ensure compliance with legislation and codes of practice, preparing engineering procedures, risk assessments, method statements, and local rules.

Qualifications
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree or HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
- Extensive experience obtained following award of the qualification, in an electrical engineering role in an industrial hazardous or harsh environment and professional experience which demonstrates an ability to work at this level.
- Demonstrable knowledge of electrical building services and LV and MV distribution networks.
- Experience of preparing safety documentation including risk assessments, method statements and using a formal permit system for work on complex, hazardous electrical plant.
Desirable:
- Preferably the job holder would have previously been an authorised person.
