Overview of Responsibilities
The salary for this role is £32,729.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.
UKAEA’s two-year graduate scheme is split by 80% of your time developing both your general work-related skills and professional qualifications and 20% of your working time dedicated to graduate training and development. Within the graduate training and development, there is a core suite of activities designed to develop your professional and business skills. Elements of this programme are flexible and can be tailored to your personal development needs and to those of your specific job role.
The Role
Our scheme is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), the Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) and the Institute of Physics (IoP) as a professional development scheme.
- Carrying out control and instrumentation, electrical and electronics activities for programmes across UKAEA.
- Working alongside mechanical, electrical and software teams to ensure the delivered electronics, electrical, control and instrumentation systems are demonstrably safe including reviewing and analysing of hardware / software in addition to design of complex safety functions.
- Involvement in design, specification, procurement, installation/modification, commissioning, and maintenance of assigned electrical systems associated with complex HV/LV electrical equipment.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform fault-finding activities on electrical plant.
- Taking part in technical studies including preparation of documentation, ensuring that proposed solutions are technically robust.
- Gain experience with power flow modelling software, including power flow studies at HV level.

- Successful completion of relevant degree within the past 2 years
- You will need to be self-motivated, demonstrate the ability to work well with others, and have an interest in the development of a cleaner energy.
