Our scheme gives you a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of one of the most advanced sources of sustainable and clean energy. During your year long placement with us, you will experience a broad range of diverse tasks, work on real projects, and gain invaluable experience within the fusion energy sector.
About the Project
Business Systems
- Project title: Project Management/ Project controls.
- Start date: Monday 4th September 2023
- Duration: 12 months
- Location: Rotherham
- Project Overview:
As a projects controls team, we support the Fusion Technology Business Unit with the best in practice project management. We support the delivery of the vital research and development projects that out team are working on.The Fusion Technology Business Unit consists of six groups:
-Applied Radiation Technology
-Applied Materials
-Thermal Hydraulics
-Powerplant Integration
-Manufacturing and Qualification
-Engineering InnovationYou will learn about the full project management lifecycle and how it is integral to successful delivery from a team of professional project managers, planners, coordinators and cost controllers. This will be done by being integrated within the six groups listed above while also learning about the science and engineering work that we support.
You will have the chance to manage small projects and get to experience true project controls with the support of the senior projects team.
Qualifications
To be considered you will need to be undertaking your degree in the United Kingdom within a relevant area and have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the year.
Desirable Aptitudes and Experience:
- Experience of working in a safety dominated working environment.
- Flexible working attitude with the ability to work as an individual or as a team member.
- A logical problem solver.
- Able to produce high quality work to deadlines.
- An excellent working knowledge of English.
- An eagerness to learn new skills and knowledge.
If you have a degree in an area not specified but feel that you could apply your skills to a placement in this discipline, we would still encourage you to apply. We would ask you to demonstrate how your skills would be relevant to the outlined opportunities.
You will need to be self motivated, demonstrate the ability to work well with others, and have an interest in the development of a cleaner energy. Additionally, you will be passionate about self-development and you should have a proactive approach to your work with an enthusiasm to achieving your full potential.

What is the recruitment process?
All applications will be initially reviewed by our hiring teams and then passed on to Project leads. If shortlisted, you will be contacted by a member of the recruiting team to arrange a short telephone interview.
