Head of People & Culture – Expert Services
Overview of Responsibilities
The salary for this role is £79,638. Onsite working is expected for 3 days each week, however, we actively support requests for flexible working.
This role is to be based at the following site; Culham, Oxfordshire.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Head of People & Culture – Expert Services to lead key workforce initiatives and embed best practices across the organisation.
As a key member of the People & Culture Strategic Leadership Team, you will develop and implement our People Strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
You will drive continuous improvement, oversee HR best practices and compliance, and ensure our culture fosters innovation, inclusion, and high performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership across multiple HR functions, ensuring effective service delivery and compliance with employment law.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including government bodies, academic institutions, and industry partners.
- Champion a culture of inclusion, wellbeing, and professional growth, ensuring effective talent attraction and retention.
- Oversee workforce planning, budget management, and KPI tracking to drive operational excellence.
- Lead and mentor senior HR professionals, fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in People & Culture / HR at a strategic level.
- Strong expertise in workforce planning, organisational development, and change management.
- In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and governance.
- Ability to drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. Experience managing budgets, KPIs, and strategic workforce initiatives. Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
